PASTOR RICK  W. THOMAS

Pastor Rick Thomas

Pastor Rick W. Thomas is a humble, anointed, appointed, man of God that

has a passion for God’s people.

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, he is the oldest of six brothers. His parents

Pastor Samuel and First Lady Vonnie Thomas live in Peoria Illinois.

Pastor Rick has two daughters Katrail and Cortney, one son Aaron,

and one granddaughter Jasmine. He and wife Donna Thomas are

two people, which exemplify the life and love of Christ.

They are the founding Pastors of Greater Works Church of God in Skokie Illinois.

Pastor Rick is a living testimony to the miraculous transforming and deliverance

power of the Lord Jesus Christ! Living in the world, as a young man, his negative

decision and substance abuse led to a three-year incarceration. However,

God’s grace and mercy led to him only serving ten months. He accepted Jesus

as his personal savor and found freedom in prison. He realized he was locked up

but not locked out of the kingdom of God.

For over sixteen years, he served faithfully in various capacities of ministries

at First Church of God Christian Life Center, Evanston Illinois.  In April of 2003,

he was honored with the “Brown Shoes” award for his dedication, commitment,

and faithfulness towards the prison ministry team for all the lives he had touched.

Pastor Rick, considered a strong leader and prayer warrior, has always had a passion

for teaching people how to apply the Word of God in their everyday lives.

On June 7, 2008, God blessed him with the greatest gift he could receive in the person of his wife Donna Thomas. Her passion, enthusiasm and inspiration for God are tremendous assets to the body of Christ at large. They have been married for eight years and God has given them a ministry of love that has become a beacon of light to others. Ordained together on July 27, 2012, they prayerfully accepted their calling that God is choosing to use them for such a time as this.

Pastor Rick has a pastor’s heart and enjoys assisting other preachers in God’s vineyard.  In 2010, along with his wife at his side, they traveled weekly to Peoria for one year to Co-Pastor his father’s church who had taken ill. Throughout the years, he continued to offer pastoral support at several churches in helping to meet the needs of the people in God’s kingdom.

Pastors Ricks’ vision in cooperates his belief that Greater Works Church of God will rise up evangelism, disciples, and church planning as integral priorities in our ministry. He gives God the glory for bestowing such rich blessings upon him, and allowing him to be a seed dropper and planting the good seed of God’s word in His Kingdom

This man of God is unstoppable in doing God’s will and is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He continues to be on fire in touching many lives for the Lord. He does not believe the church building is his church life, but wants to keep the church alive by getting into the depth of the community and beyond. Pastor Rick believes that we are a work in progress, and lives to equip, train, and empower the leaders of God’s church to plant the seed of faith in good soil.

Pastor Rick hopes to be a blessing to you and others through this web site. He encourages you to believe in the promise of this day always, and to remember, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13).
